We have seen a bit of a return of wintry weather this week with temps in the 20's and ice and snow and wind and nasty weather all the way around! We will continue this pattern with highs in the 30's and lows in the 20's which is normal for this time of year.

During the winter months the question always comes up about what it is exactly we do all season long? Well, equipment repair and maintenance takes up much of our time. The Grounds department here at ILR also handles snow displacement. I learned to NOT call it 'snow removal' after this month's blizzard. At no point do we actually remove snow, we merely move it from one location to another. ILR has 900 parking spaces over 13 acres. We have 3 loading docks, close to a dozen entrances, three canopies and three garbage receptacles to clear. That count doesn't include the grounds maintenance building. This winter 2010/2011 has produced 53" of snow. On average, our area receives 36" of snow per year. This marks the fourth consecutive winter of 50" + of snow fall here at ILR (60", 52", 54" and now 53" from 2007-2011). Fun stuff, I know.
We'll also be repainting our mini-golf components before Spring arrives as well, which is fun.
We are also in the process of refinishing our bunker rakes, flagsticks, benches, tee markers and our shop floor (hopefully). Thanks for reading, following, etc.
